What Are You Expecting This Week?

David, the Psalmist, wrote, “How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you” (Psalm 31:19). The word ‘abundant’ that he used here carries the idea of great, large numbers, significant and noble. Another time, David wrote, “In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; In the morning, I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation” (Psalm 5:3). David expected and waited with eager anticipation, for good things to come from God. He didn’t have a scarcity mindset. He had an abundance mindset. He didn’t brace himself preparing for disappointment. He expected great things from God.

I wonder how much more positivity and confidence we would exude if we expected great things from God?   Missionary, William Carey, said, “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.” I love that!

What if you got up every morning this week and the first thing you prayed was, “God I’m excited to see the great things you’ll do today. I’m going to take big risks for you this week, expecting that you’re going to do great things through me. Not for my glory but for yours.” I wonder how differently your week might unfold? I’m betting unanticipated opportunities would open, and unexpected risks might be taken. Hey – you might even surprise yourself!

I fear that there are times when we’re afraid to be disappointed by God so in an effort to guard ourselves, we don’t ask for God to show up I a big way. We don’t dare to believe Him with bold faith.

Friend, I believe God wants to do more in our lives and through our lives than we can possibly imagine or think. I want to live boldly and passionately for His glory. Don’t you? This week, thank Him in advance for the abundant opportunities He will open for you and then wait in expectation!

I’d love to hear what your trusting God for this week. Leave a comment and tell me what you’re asking God for. I promise you, I’ll pray over each request that comes in.

So timely, this post! Thanks, Becky! This past week, especially, I feel God has been impressing me with that truth that He is NOT a God of scarcity–toward me, and toward anything He wants accomplished. He DOES want so much more (not materially) for me and for all of us in His Kingdom. Thankful for the way He lavishes His love and goodness on us!
Instead of giving in to fear over a routine colonoscopy tomorrow, I am claiming His promises of working all things out for my good and His glory, and that His peace can prevail, if I let it. That is my most immediate expectation!

Your blogs seems to hit me direct lately – thanks Becky

I am away vacationing and I want to make myself available to God more this week – I am away from the common duties of my life and through reading His word and speaking to Him in prayer or when I just talk to Him, almost senseless but knowing He understands

Yes, to be with God more and do what He ask – please pray for that for me.

Thank you for your message! I needed it this week!!! Praying for my home business. Asking God to bring customers for myself, son and daughter in law that we need to hit a goal. My dream is to be able to give to Christ centered ministries to woman and children in a significant way for His glory!

Hi Becky! Your book “The 30 Day Praise Challenge” was a blessing to me during a rough and sad period in my life. I have picked it up again because I am going through a season of uncertainty and expectation. I noticed your website (didn’t see that two years ago when reading this book!) and am happy to see that you are maintaining it! I have been praying to God about helping me to realize my calling. I am also looking for a job that will hopefully incorporate whatever my calling is. But, at this point, if it is a job that is fulfilling in some way, then I will be happy. Thanks!
