Give thanks for His goodness and experience His presence
“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
Let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.”
Psalm 95:1-2
Thanksgiving opens our hearts to God’s presence and our minds to God’s thoughts. A thankful attitude opens “the windows of heaven” and allows you to experience spiritual blessings reserved for only those with grateful hearts! I want to live with a continual awareness of the intimate presence of God. I want to think His thoughts, pulse with the rhythm of His heart, look with His eyes, and hear with His ears. He has been so good to me, eternity will not be long enough to give Him thanks! He has brought me from death to life, He has redeemed the pain and sorrow in my life, He offers Himself as the “Rock” to whom I may continually come. There are so many reasons to give thanks! I want to experience His presence in the most intimate way possible. Praising Him and offering Him thanksgiving are key.
Praise challenge
Today, spend the twenty minutes in praise but then as you celebrate Thanksgiving with your family and friends, remember that your heart is a sanctuary. Whisper prayers of thanksgiving throughout the day. Every time you look at the clock, or check your watch or cell phone for the time – offer a silent prayer of thanksgiving for some way God has been good to you! By thanking Him in all things you will be opening your heart to experience His presence!
Additional challenge
Begin today keeping a gratitude journal. Every evening write down three things you are thankful for. In a short time you will see that your entire attitude about life has changed! I have not yet met a person who keeps a gratitude journal who is negative in spirit.
