He has a purpose for my life

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know him better.

I pray also that the eyes of your heart

may be enlightened in order that you

may know the hope to which he has called you.”

Ephesians 1:17-18

We all need a sense of purpose and meaning in our lives. We need to know that we exist for something bigger than our selves.  The great news is that God designed you with purpose.  He takes great pleasure in you and is delighted when you glorify Him with your praise. He invites you to not only bring Him glory with your praise but also through works that He has prepared specifically for you. (Ephesians 2:10) One of the reasons God designed works for you to do is so that you can share His love with the world around you and through you He can draw people to Himself.

When you understand that you have been designed with purpose it creates within you a sense of vision.  You know who you are in Christ Jesus and what He has called you to do. Author Jack Hayford says, that God did not create man “as a pawn or plaything, but to become a partner in His highest purpose.” If you want to figure out your purpose make it a point to live a life of worship and praise. As you praise God, He will reveal to you His specific plans for your life.

Praise challenge

Focus on praising God that He has a plan for your life. You are not here by accident. Your life brings glory to God. As you worship and praise God today think through the specific calling He has on your life. As you go to work today, thank and praise Him that He allows you to work. Seek to live a life of praise even at your job. One way to do this is to take a short (3 minute) praise break every few hours, or in between appointments.  Another way to do this is to learn to live life on two levels. On ones level you are focused on doing your job, but on another level you are praising God. Make it your goal to live life with a continual undercurrent of praise.
