The Thirty Day Praise Challenge – Day 17

with No Comments

He is the source of all wisdom

“Oh the depths of the riches of the wisdom

and knowledge of God.

How unsearchable his judgments,

And his paths beyond tracing out!

Who has known the mind of the Lord?

Or who has been his counselor?

Romans 11:33-34

Faced with countless decisions, big or small, I find that I cry out for wisdom many times per day! It may be in a writing project, a relationship, when contemplating a new opportunity, or considering how to best use my finances. I find that my quest for wisdom is endless. At times I feel like I can never get enough.  Thinking through all of life’s decisions can paralyze me if I don’t lift my eyes to the One who is absolute wisdom. The apostle Paul wrote an amazing doxology at the end of Romans 11 where He sings out in praise, “Oh the depths of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God.” His wisdom is incomprehensible. Yet, the amazing thing is that when I praise God for His wisdom, He willingly shares His wisdom with me and I am changed in the process.  Do you want more wisdom in your life?  The secret of praising God is that the more we praise Him for His wisdom, the more He pours that wisdom into our lives.

Praise Challenge

Focus your praise today on the wisdom of God. Make a list of all the various areas of your life where you are in need of wisdom right now. Then go back through that list praising God that He has the wisdom your need for each particular area.  For example, let’s say you need wisdom in your marriage right now. You might pray something like this; “Lord Jesus, I praise you that you are the God of all wisdom. I exalt you because your wisdom is beyond anything I can fathom.   I praise you that in wisdom you designed me and in wisdom you designed my spouse.   I praise you that in your sovereign wisdom you brought us together so that we might glorify you. I praise you that though I don’t have wisdom in this specific area  (Name that area) you do. I praise you that you promise me, that if I lack wisdom, I only need to ask and you will give me wisdom.” (James 1:5)

Additional Challenge

If you haven’t already, memorize Romans 11:33-36.   I memorized this passage about twelve years ago and I can’t tell you how many times I have returned to it and borrowed Paul’s words in my praise.  It is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful passages of scripture to use in our praise time!
