The Thirty Day Praise Challenge – Day 12

He is Sovereign

“Ah Sovereign Lord you have made the heavens and the earth by your great
power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”

“I am the Lord,

the God of all mankind is anything too hard for me

Jeremiah 32:17,27

God is completely sovereign. Nothing catches Him off guard and nothing is too difficult for Him. We may feel overwhelmed by our life circumstances, but God never does. The prophet Jeremiah must have felt overwhelmed as he watched siege ramps being built by the Babylonians who were getting ready to attack Judah. But by faith Jeremiah praised God for His sovereignty and His power, proclaiming, “Nothing is too hard for you!”

Your life circumstances may not be what you expected at this moment. You may feel overwhelmed and out of control, but God is not up in heaven wringing His hands and pacing the streets of gold.

God never says:

  • Oh man, how did that happen?
  • What am I going to do now?
  • Wow, I didn’t see that one coming!
  • How did that happen?

I don’t know about you, but it brings me great comfort that God is never caught off guard. His sovereignty gives us hope that He is in charge and He has a plan. Think about your life right now.  Are there circumstances that from a human perspective feel impossible?

Praise Challenge
Today, in your praise time, think through impossible situations you are facing. Then over each situation proclaim by faith, “Ah, sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. Though I don’t understand your ways, I will choose by faith to praise you anyway.” Throughout the day whenever panic sets in, turn your panic into praise.

Additional Scripture:

Habakkuk 3:17-19

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen, and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my savior. The sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.”
