Revival

Recently, I’ve been studying the concept of revival. What exactly is revival?  One of my favorite quotes about revival is by Vance Havner, “Revival is falling in love with Jesus all over again.” I love that. Don’t you? So simple. So genuine. So uncomplicated. Yet, so imperative to our spiritual journey.  When we re-fall in love with Jesus, we are changed.  Sin becomes less attractive and holiness becomes more compelling. We become less judgmental and more loving. We become more concerned with obedience, than image management. And the fruit of the Spirit characterizes our lives. (Galatians 5:22 -23)

So how does revival come?  As I have been studying some past revivals I have noticed that they all include several things:

  • An exalted view of God and HIs holiness – (This is where praising God comes in. When you praise and exalt God above your life circumstances, your view of Him grows larger.)
  • A desire to turn from sin in response to God’s love and holiness.
  • A renewed desire for the Holy Spirit’s presence and power

The result is a rise in hope and joy! Do we need more hope and joy in our world today? You bet!  Is revival possible now? Yes! In many areas of the world revival is happening now! China, London, Wales, and Poland have all reported revivals……and those are just a few. I am praying for revival here in our country as well.

I would love your thoughts and stories about revival. Have you ever experienced what you considered to be “personal revival”? If so, what was that experience like for you? I’d love to hear from you!  I have a worship CD to give away. Leave a comment and I’ll enter your name to win the CD.
