Monday Morning Confidence Boost

with 6 Comments

This morning, I was worshipping and reflecting on the story of Jesus falling asleep in the boat with the disciples (Matthew 8:23- 27).  Maybe this story was on my mind because last night I fell asleep way earlier than I’m willing to admit!  I love that Jesus got tired and needed a nap. Don’t you? As Jesus was snoozing soundly, a furious storm came up on the lake and the waves were so high that they were sweeping over the boat. The disciples came unglued, panicked and frantically woke Jesus crying out, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”  Don’t you feel a little sorry for Jesus being woken so abruptly?  But, He rises, rebukes the wind and the waves, and immediately the storm dies down. I wonder if He curled back up and lay back down after the disciples settled?

As I worshipping this morning to Kari Jobe’s, “Be Still My Soul”, I was reminded that the wind and the waves still obey His voice. As you enter this new week don’t allow the circumstances of your life to intimidate you. Instead, when difficulties and challenges arise, whisper a prayer praising Jesus that the winds and the waves still bow to HIs voice. He is present with you in the boat of life. No storm catches Him off guard. No wave knocks him down. No wind surprises Him. And, now that He stands at the right hand of the Father, He never has to take a nap! Move into your week with confidence – He is with you and is still sovereign.

I would love to hear from you!   I need some help coming up with Christmas songs that have been particularly helpful in prompting your praise.   Would you take a moment and let me know some of your favorites.   I’ll choose a winner and you’ll receive an I-tunes gift card!~   By the way, the two winners of those who left comments on Julie’s blog are Carrie Stephens and Karen Sherrill.
