From Costa Rica – Pura Vida!

with No Comments

My hubby and I are enjoying a refreshing vacation in, Costa Rica!   It’s wonderful down here! Very peaceful, quiet (except for the howling monkeys and birds) and beautiful!

There is an expression in Costa Rica, “Pura Vida”. It means “pure life”.   It is written on the soap in the hotel room, on signs along the free way (dirt roads) and people even use it to greet one another.    Imagine greeting a friend with, “Pure life” to you today!   What a wonderful and simple blessing!

As I have been thinking about, Pura Vida my mind went to the Old Testament book of Ezekiel where God promises, “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 11:19) To have an have a “pure life” sounds similar to having an “undivided heart” – a heart totally committed to God. That’s the way I want to live my life – undivided – in union with the Holy Spirit. Living life undivided means I will lay down my desires in favor of God’s.

I’d love your thoughts on this. What do you think it means to live a pure life with an undivided heart?   Leave a comment.
