Ever felt like you were in bondage? You might have felt like your past was holding you captive. Or, maybe you have been in bondage to a habit you can’t break, like over eating, or excessive shopping, or excessive drinking. Or maybe you felt like you were a prisoner to fear or anxiety. If you feel like you’re in bondage, Exodus is your book! The message of the book of Exodus is that it’s time to find freedom! I’d like to suggest that you find some space today to get alone with God and consider your personal exodus. Ask God as we look into this book each day, to show you were He wants to bring freedom into your life.
The Israelites were held captive in Egypt but God had not forgotten them. Three phrases caught my attention this morning as I read HIs conversation with Moses at the burning bush; “I have seen”, (Exodus 3:7) “I have heard.” (Exodus 3:7) ” I have come to rescue.” (Exodus 3:8) Those three phrases bring great comfort when I feel like I am living in bondage to anything – God has not forgotten or abandoned me. He sees my misery. He hears my cries. And, He comes to rescue.
Think about your life at this moment. For what situation do you need the reassurance that God sees, He hears and He comes to rescue? In what areas of your life do you need to find freedom? I’d love to hear from you!
Join me on Monday. We’ll be talking about inadequacy!
