Does God Really Hear My Prayer?

with 4 Comments

I’ve heard this cry countless times from disillusioned saints. Good, faithful people who have cried out to God but haven’t been sure if God answered. As a result, they felt disillusioned with prayer and disconnected from His presence.

We know Jesus invited us to pray, teaching us:

“Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.”

(Matthew 6:9-13)

But, many wonder, does it really make a difference? Does God bend down to listen? Does He care about the cries of my heart?

Yes.

How do I know? Scripture tells me so and I have experienced His answers to my prayers.

What’s the key then?

Faith.

You may not see His answer right away. You may not feel His presence right away. However, this I know: if you continue pressing in, believing that He will answer, He will.

So how, then, do we reassure our quaking hearts when life is crumbling? We cling to the promises found in Scripture.

4 Promises to Reassure Your Heart That God, Our Father, Is Listening

1. Our Father Bends Down to Listen

“I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” (Psalm 116:1-2 NLT).

2. Our Father Invites Us to Ask Audaciously

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened”(Matthew 7:7-8).

“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name” (John 14:13-14).

3. Our Father Provides the Holy Spirit to Intercede for Us

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself, intercedes for us through wordless groans” (Romans 8:26).

4. Our Father Invites Us to Come Boldly

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14).

Tuesday is Release Day for Our Father!  Please, friends, join me in praying that many will do this study and discover the deep love that our Father has for them.

This week on The Connected Mom Podcast we’re talking about teaching your kids the Lord’s Prayer!

I was so excited and moved by the depth and richness of this study that I used it as a source in a presentation/teaching I did at a woman’s retreat in March. As a follow up to that teaching I am leading your study Our Father starting April 14th! I received my book in the mail today and I can’t wait to dive in!! Thank you for writing this and sharing it with us. Blessings, Neetta
