Develop a Worship Play List for Worry

with 17 Comments

You know the feeling. Anxiety pummels. Sleep won’t come. Thoughts won’t stop. Rest won’t happen.

For much of my life, as I’ve mentioned before, I’ve battled worry. Sometimes, I’ve won. Other times, I’ve been defeated. But, here’s what I’ve learned. When worry starts attacking my mind, I need to turn my panic into praise. I’ve actually developed a “Worship Play List for Worry.”

I’m guessing you battle worry as well so I figured as we start this new week, I’d share my worry play list with you. When anxiety attacks this week, try praising God while listening to these songs. Play them in your house, your car, your office or wherever. As you listen ask the Holy Spirit to quiet your heart and bring your mind to a place of worship. If you like the songs, download them from I-tunes and develop your own worry play list. Friends, when we choose to praise God intentionally, we win the battle over worry!

Leave a comment or tweet @beckyharling the answer. What’s your favorite worship song to quiet worry? On Friday of this week I’ll be choosing one person who leaves a comment to win a I-tunes gift card. So check back on Friday and I’ll announce the winner.

Hands down it is Casting Crowns that gets me through the tough stuff. Voice of Truth and Praise you in the Storm are great Godly messages at 4 AM when you can’t sleep. Mark Hall sang me to sleep many nights in the hospital. 🙂

As I laid awake in the sleepless early morning listening to the rain fall gently on the roof, the words to Amazing Grace began to run through my mind, raining sweet peace over the worry keeping me awake. Next came the phrase “My help comes from you”. Love your play list idea. Songs and words play through my head even when I am not plugged in!

    Just wondering Becky….
You asked readers to write their favorite worship songs to quiet worry and that you will choose a winner from those who comment or tweet.
And you then go ahead to choose the winner who comments but does not comply with the instructions of mentioning their song. Instead the comment says good idea, i will work on it. While several others complied.

    Doesn’t seem fair to me….
