Day 9 – Countdown to the Release of The 30 Day Praise Challenge

with 4 Comments

I am loving reading all your comments!  I am encouraged as I read the verses that mean the most to you or the songs that you love.  Each comment brings joy and hope to others as well.  The winner of yesterday’s I-Tunes gift card is Alyssa Ryan!  Alyssa, send me your mailing address and I’ll get your I-Tunes gift card in the mail.

Early this morning I watched the sunrise from my back deck. It was breathtakingly beautiful! Then I turned to Psalm 33 which begins with these words, “Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord: it is fitting for the pure to praise HIm. Praise the Lord with melodies on the lyre; Make music for HIm on the ten-stringed harp. Sing a new song of praise to Him;” I have found when I feel sad or gloomy, tense or frustrated, fearful or lonely that the best way to turn my mood around is to turn on some praise music and start singing along!  There is something about singing praises to Jesus that lifts our spirits in a way I can’t describe.

Today, I will be giving away a novel, (Rebel by Linda Windsor) but you must answer this question.  What is your favorite worship song? (I realize some of you may have many – so you can list 2 -3) When we list these songs we help others who might check them out and feel encouraged.  The 30 Day Praise Challenge is filled with song suggestions from some of America’s top Christian artists.  Your going to love it!!!  Leave a comment and one of you will win a novel published by DavidCCook……for fun summer reading!~

My favorite worship song is In Christ Alone. These are the lyrics:
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
    This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless Babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save

? Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
    [| From: http://www.elyrics.net |]
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory
Sin? s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From a life? s first cry to final breath
    Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man
Could ever pluck me from His hand
? Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I stand

I will stand, I will stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground, all other ground
Is sinking sand, is sinking sand
    So I stand

You’re right, I have a TON of favorite worship songs…but one that will always remain true to my top faves is “How He Loves Us” by David Crowder. One day a few years ago when I was reconciling my relationship with my mom, I heard the lyrics “I don’t have time to maintain these regrets, when I think about the way He loves us”. It crushed my heart (in a good way) and I must have listened to the song 10 times in a row. The song always rejuvenates my spirit to forgive, because I have been forgiven. Excited for your book release!

Right now, I think my top three faves would be Blessings, by Laura Story; Redeemed, by Big Daddy Weave; Beautiful Things, by Gungor; and an always favorite is “Day by Day”, old hymn category. All these songs remind me that no matter what God loves to redeem (rescue, deliver, save) and always offers His strength to carry on. Also, Hillsong’s “None but Jesus.” (Becky, had lunch with two new friends today and mentioned you and your new book, as we all encouraged each other with the importance of praising Him.) Blessings!!
