5 Promises for the New Year
This past year has whizzed by for me. As I’ve looked back, I am filled with awe and gratitude as I have witnessed the faithfulness of God.
This past week, as I read through the Old Testament book of Isaiah, I was struck by all the promises God made to His people. I don’t believe those promises were just for the people of God living during Isaiah’s lifetime. They are for us today as well!
As I’ve reflected on those promises, I’ve chosen five that are especially wonderful to share with you. Why not print out these verses and cling to them as we enter the unknown territory of 2025?

- God’s presence will be a canopy over and around you.
“Over everything the glory will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and the rain” (Isaiah 4:5b-6).
No matter what happens in this new year, God’s presence will not leave you. It will be over, beneath, and around you to be a place of shelter, safety, and security. You can count on it. You will not have to face any trial alone. God’s presence will be there with you. - God’s peace can be a reality for you.
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you” (Isaiah 26:3).
When we dare to fix our thoughts on God Himself, His peace becomes a reality in our lives. - God will continue to be gracious and compassionate toward you.
“For the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore, He will rise up to show you compassion” (Isaiah 30:18).
I’ve noticed that we are often hard on ourselves. At least I am, and likely you are too. Here’s the thing: God is not like us. He continually offers us grace and compassion! As we head into 2025, you can count on His grace and compassion. - God will lead and direct as you lean into Him for wisdom.
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it’” (Isaiah 30:21).
When the Holy Spirit dwells within you, you always have a source of wisdom available to you. When you don’t know what to do or which way to go, press into Him, and He will show you. - God will go before you and sustain you in the New Year.
“I will go before you and will level the mountains. I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you hidden treasure and riches stored in secret places, so that you will know I am the LORD” (Isaiah 45:2-3). “I am He, I am He who will sustain you” (Isaiah 46:4b).
Whatever you face in 2025, He will sustain and empower you. You can count on it. As you lean into Him as your source, He will provide the strength that you need.
Friend, facing a new year is exciting. There will be new possibilities and opportunities. However, there is also uncertainty. You will face new challenges and encounter new tests. Be assured: The Lord Himself goes into the New Year before us. Each of these promises is a reminder that He is a good God who cares deeply and provides. Why not print out these promises and put them where they can be a reminder for you throughout the year? Let’s make 2025 a year of greater faith and confidence!
This winter, do you want to grow closer in your friendships? Why not pull together a few friends and do a book study of Cultivating Deeper Connections in a Lonely World?

This week on the Connected Mom Podcast, I will be sharing a few principles for living with holy confidence in the New Year.
