3 Promises When You Feel Forgotten

This past week I’ve been reading through 1 Chronicles. I’ve got to admit—it’s a rough go! Long lists of names. As I was reading those lengthy genealogies, I found myself talking to the Lord.

“Lord, I want to read Your Word—all of it. But really? These are some very long lists. What are You trying to say to me?”

As I sat quietly, I felt the Spirit of God gently pierce my heart. His voice whispered deep within me:

“I know each of those names, and those people are precious to Me—just as I know your name, Becky, and you are precious to Me.”

Ah, what a gentle rebuke.

Every person listed in those chapters was known by God and treasured by Him.

The beautiful truth is this: He also knows your name. He treasures you. If He were writing 1 Chronicles today, your name would be there too.

Psalm 139 reminds us that He knows us completely. He knows when we sit and when we rise. He knows our thoughts and the things we worry about. Before we even speak, He knows what we’re going to say.

There are times when you may feel unseen or unheard. If that’s where you are today, let me remind you of three promises from Scripture. God has not forgotten you.

3 Promises When You Feel Forgotten

He knows your name.
Isaiah 45:3–4 reminds us that God knows exactly who you are. He doesn’t need a reminder about your name. Others might—but He never does.

He hears your heart’s cries.
Psalm 34:15 tells us, “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their cry.” I love that God is an attentive Father, don’t you? His ears are always open to your voice. He’s never distracted, never too busy, and never annoyed by your prayers. You can come to Him as often as you like with as many requests as you have. He is always available, and He is always listening.

He goes before you to make a way.
Isaiah 45:2 declares, “I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.”

I wonder what dreams are tucked away in your heart for the future. Or maybe, instead of dreams, you’re carrying fears about what’s ahead.

Can I reassure you? God has already gone before you, and He has promised to prepare the way. Nothing in your future will catch Him off guard. He will be with you. He will strengthen you and provide everything you need.

What a blessing! He’s got you, Girlfriend. You can relax.

The next time you read through 1 Chronicles and come across all those names, remember that God knew each person personally. He heard their cries. He went before them and prepared the way.

And the best part?

He does the very same for you.
