Good morning everyone! Yesterdays winners are Glenda Childers and Ruth Bollman! Both will receive a copy of The 30 Day Praise Challenge and an I-tunes gift card. Congratulations, Glenda and Ruth – please email me your mailing addresses and I’ll get the books and cards off to you!
This morning I read these words by King Hezekiah, “O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. Bend down, O Lord, and listen!” (Isaiah 37:16 NLV) At the time that King Hezekiah wrote this prayer, He was surrounded by enemies who were getting ready to attack. Have you ever felt surrounded? Maybe not by a literal army getting ready to attack, but maybe by problems, or deadlines, or relational difficulties, or financial pressure. What I love about this prayer of King Hezekiah is that it begins with praise. Despite the fact that Hezekiah is facing a dire situation he lifts his eyes to the Almighty and begins his prayer by praising God as the only One who rules heaven and earth. Then he cries out, “bend down and listen”. I love that phrase! When my children were tiny and they would come to me with a problem I often got down on one knee to listen so that I would be eye to eye with them . I love the picture Hezekiah paints here of God, our Father, who gets down on one knee to listen to the cries of our hearts.
Today, I’ll be giving away another copy of The 30 Day Praise Challenge and an I-tunes gift card. But in order to be entered into the drawing you need to leave a comment. Here’s my question, tell me why you are thankful that God bends down to listen to every cry of your heart. Leave a comment and I’ll enter your name in the drawing to win!
